About Me
My journey into this industry has been an adventure, driven by curiosity and supported by amazing people, with just a little bit of luck along the way.
After accepting that my dream of a career as a professional cricketer was never going to happen I ‘got a real job’ in professional financial services. A few years into that career, I was offered a chance to move home to South Africa from London to take a role with a sponsorship agency, and I have never looked back. Since then, I have been fortunate to have spent over a decade in the sports and entertainment industry, experiencing a range of roles with agency, rights holders, promoters and venues, in South Africa and Australia.
At Gemba, my background in professional services and finance, coupled with my experience across the industry, allows me to offer a broad strategic perspective when solving business and sponsorship challenges for our clients.
Day in the Life
6:15am - Alarm goes off. Do I hit snooze or brave the cold for a run… ok fine, better be a short run!
7:30am - Quick shower, and it’s off to work. Catch up with news and any overnight messages from friends and family in South Africa on my commute
8:15am - 1st coffee of the day… extra shot please Con
8:30am - Get set up at my desk, catch up on mails and weekend stories
9:00am - Time for Monday morning meeting, catching up on the awesome work our team has been doing lately
10:00am - WIP with Coca-Cola to discuss what we’ve been working on and plan for the next few weeks
10:30am - 2nd coffee of the day
11:00am - Focus time for a first review of an ambassador strategy
12:30pm - Time for food and Lunch Quiz with Matt Tan
1:00pm - It’s end EOFY, so check in on job cost reports and revenue forecasts for the rest of the month
2:00pm - WIP with Sam to discuss priorities for the rest of the week
2:30pm - Join a call with Netflix to present our insights and strategy, before sitting back to see the epic ideas our creative team have come up with
4:00pm - Catch up with Hodgey on an exciting new opportunity… and get started on a Purpose & Planning proposal
5:30pm - Check emails, get tomorrow’s to-do list started, timesheets done and home time
7:00pm - Catch up on how my wife’s day was, cook dinner and enjoy the last few days of quiet time together before we welcome a new member into our family
