About Erika
Marketers are a lot like professional 'hype people', and that's absolutely how I would describe my approach. I've always enjoyed showing off the best bits of a company and its people across a variety of channels.
My comms career started with a degree in PR, but my inquisitiveness led me to the world of marketing where I could get stuck into strategy and planning.
Out of office, despite never going pro at 5"4, I’m on a mission to prove myself as the strongest GD or speediest Centre and if I’m feeling lucky, I’ll give GA a go too.
In a global role across Gemba & Turnstile, there are never two days the same. Add to that navigating the dynamic sport & entertainment landscape, it's an exciting space I can bring a lot of energy to.
Day In The Life
6:15 - Cue deafening alarm, 15min snooze and it's decision #1 of the day: check the weather, to bike or to tube?
7:10 - Time to leave, bike it is! Helmet, high-vis and speaker at the ready. Decision #2, What do the streets of London want to hear? Beyonce, Fleetwood Mac or anything disco…
7:40 - avoid the office mouse, shower and coffee.
8:00 - News, notifications and some quick check-ins with team Aus while they're still awake
8:45 - check current projects, priorities and plan the day into chunks of Gemba & Turnstile time. Decision #3: what will be the soundtrack today? More Beyonce or old school hip hop…
9:00 - team check-in done and WIPs booked in, heads down focus time
12:30 - it only takes one person to utter the question 'lunch?' and the team assemble. Decision #4: packed lunch or venture out to Sainos
1:15 - get caffeinated, time for collaborative internal meetings on the latest campaign and/or scouting the next marketing opportunity
3:00 - check-in on the marketing calendar and work through the tasklist for upcoming projects, with an obligatory sense-check and series of questions for Rob, Claire, Andy & Bacchus. Time to review, leave feedback and write briefs that are ready for Creative to work some magic on
5:00 - wind-down has started. Decision #4 which of tens of tabs need to stay open for tomorrow. Inevitably leave all of them just in case.
5:45 - don't forget timesheets, don't forget timesheets, don't forget timesheets. Back on the bike we go taking the scenic city route past St Pauls, Tower Bridge and countless pubs. London you are gorgeous.
6:30 - final decision of the day run, gym or stay in. Maybe copy Ashley to avoid having to make the decision…back out we go!
7:15 - I will be sous chef, guaranteed Mob Kitchen or Ottolenghi number on the menu
9:30 - last check of shemails and the agenda for tomorrow. We go again!
