About Me
My passion for data started at university, developing my own algorithms before Data Science was ‘cool’. I have been fortunate to have spent nearly two decades working with data across both client and agency side, helping organisations develop the right data and analytics solutions to unlock the value of their data to drive positive commercial outcomes.
I’m a lifelong Chelsea FC supporter, but my sporting interests also include tennis, F1, snooker, pool, and darts. Aside from the joy it brings, what I find fascinating about sports is its ability to bring people together across all walks of life.
Outside of work I'm a husband and a father of two active boys, and after spending time with the family, I try to fit a bit of competitive FPS gaming in or chill with a classic JRPG over the weekend.
Joining Gemba has been a dream come true that allows me to finally combine my passion for data with sports and entertainment to help create better experiences for fans and audiences all across the world.
Day in the Life
6:30am - Alarm goes off...one eye opens, then the second reluctantly follows. My kids are early risers so I normally lay in bed hoping the bathroom is occupied so that I can maybe have a few more minutes before I drag myself out of bed. Once ready, grab my morning coffee and something light for breakfast before sorting out my bag for the office.
7:15am - Out the front door to make my way to the office, regret not checking for any delays on public transport so I buckle up and roll with the punches.
8:30am to 8:45am - Arrive at office, drop my bag off, setup my desk for the day ahead. Then I grab a coffee and review my daily planner in Notion to make sure I'm clear on the priorities of the day ahead.
9:00am - Check in with the wider team to see if any support required with data to feed client deliverables, or help investigate any data issues.
10:00am - Work on new Hub builds for clients.
12:00pm - Stomach clock goes off like clockwork. If I didn't do any meal prep on the weekend for the week, I ponder over the choices for lunch despite knowing there's an extremely high probability of it being a sandwich of some description.
1:00pm - Refine project tasks for an exciting segmentation mapping and NBA project to make sure I'm fully over any potential gaps and issues that may arise to better plan how we can mitigate any that may become a reality.
2:30pm - Review and tweak our data pipelines responsible for ingesting our proprietary data as well as other digital platforms we require to report on our clients behalf.
5:00pm - Begin to wind down, respond to any client emails coming and quick check-in with wider team before shutting down.
5:30pm - Head home to help sort kids out for bedtime.
9:00pm - Quick look ahead and update my Notion planner so I'm ready to go the next morning. Then decide to either enjoy a little bit of Suits on Netflix or catch up on some reading.
11:00pm - Bedtime for me to catch those Zzzzzz's.
